Remember that TVS prototype we posted earlier this-month which was believed to be the TVS Draken 250 on-test. Now the folks at OverDrive say that test-mule spotted was not the Draken 250 but the updated RTR 180 snapped by its reader, Nicholson Fredrick during testing near Bangalore.
The updated RTR 180 is expected to be in showrooms sometime this-year.
Design-wise, the new Apache RTR 180 will carry the same lines as the Draken Concept showcased at the 2014 India Auto Expo held at New Delhi last-year. Like the current-gen, the updated RTR 180 will get a rear disc brake and ABS. The biggest update on the RTR 180 is the introduction of a much needed monoshock suspension at rear. In terms of power, the RTR 180 is expected to receive a slight increase in power than the current 180cc version with addition of a fuel injection and an oil-cooler.
Surprisingly, the updated RTR 180 is expected to reach showrooms sometime this-year itself, however, at the moment there no fix date on when exactly the launch will happen. The RTR series is known always for its blend of styling, comfort, handling, performance, mileage & features. The new motorcycle is expected to take this tradition to all new-level with some more refinement thrown in.
A slight increase in power on the new Apache RTR 180 is expected.
Furthermore, the source reveals that TVS Motors preferred not to increase the cubic capacity for the updated Apache series as this will drive-up the price. And when the TVS-BMW’s speculated 300cc motorcycle is launched, the price difference between two will be too narrow, thus, the company has proceeded with the 180cc configuration.
