Renault bringing two all-new models to Indian market, plans revealed

The French carmaker, Renault has recently emerged as a formidable player in the Indian car market. The company will be launching the Captur in next 3-4 weeks and the new-gen Duster in next 12-18 months, other than that they will also bring two all-new models in the country. This is to keep the momentum going and to make itself a bigger brand here.

Pictures of 2015 Renault Espace are just used for representational only, the actual model may differ from the one shown here.

Interestingly, both of these are UV’s, speaking of Renault’s ambitions. First of these will be a MUV, codenamed ‘RBC’. The RBC will replace the Lodgy from Renault’s India line-up and will be based on an extended version of the Kwid’s CMF-A platform. It is expected to be showcased in concept avatar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, while launch is scheduled during festive season of 2018.

Just like the Lodgy, the RBC will be a 7-seater but is expected to be a less expensive product, featuring tougher styling, good equipment levels, smaller footprint and a fuel-efficient range of engines. The company will sub-position the RBC below the Lodgy competing head-on with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda BR-V.

French automaker’s low-cost platform will help the company to price this crossover competitively in the market.

The second product will be a compact SUV codenamed Renault ‘HBC’ rivaling Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon expected for a launch in 2019. Nothing much is known about this new compact SUV, but this one too is likely to be based on an extended version of the Kwid’s CMF-A platform to keep the prices on check. Prices for both RBC and HBC are expected to start from under INR 8 lakhs.

It is safe to say for now, Renault India has a good future ahead with all-new range.
