Mahindra is planning to regularly update 2 of its compact SUVs – KUV100 and TUV300 to keep it fresh from some growing competition amongst rival automakers. Both these models are popular and we’ll known, but that hasn’t resulted in sales and the company is lagging behind in the compact SUV segment here.
These cars haven’t met the expectations placed on them by the company, but they still have time to correct it. Both the KUV100 and TUV300 have seen a small dip in sales in the past few months, due to growing competition not only from its segment, but also the premium hatchback sentiment as well.
As of now, these cars will be refreshed and updated, but it’s rivals are still selling well despite not being refreshed. One more reason for taking this step could be the growth of the compact SUV segment, which will see a couple of new launches this-year like the Tata Nexon and Volkswagen’s compact SUV.
Currently, the compact SUV segment, less by the Maruti Vitara Brezza, is achieving record numbers every month, with the KUV100 and TUV300 contributing a small part of it.
These facelift’s will mean intense competition in this fast growing segment and only time can tell whether this strategy of facelift-ing the KUV100 and TUV300 has worked for Mahindra or not. At the moment, these cars will be fighting for sales with the competition.
