Indian automotive biggie Mahindra and Mahindra is planning to introduce a larger version of the TUV 300 codenamed ‘Mahindra U108’, which could be christened the ‘TUV500’.
This is to make its presence felt in the UV market, where new competitions have arrived in recent times. The ever growing UV segment is a major segment when it comes to major automakers, so they prepare new people carriers to meet the demands.
In design, the car is a TUV300 having a larger wheelbase, which means a spacious third row. The design is same as its tank inspired sibling. The interiors could be tweaked a bit to make the car more appealing and desirable.
Mahindra could give the option of the mHawk 2.2-litre or the newly made mHawk 1.99-litre engine to the car, which at present powers the Scorpio and XUV500. It may be unlikely that the 1.5-litre engine of the TUV300 may be powering it. It may come in both petrol and diesel versions.
The TUV500 will take on established competitors like Renault Lodgy and Maruti Ertiga in its segment. There may be chances that Mahindra could price the car more aggressively to undercut its rivals on-price. It’s launch timeline isn’t clear yet, but the model when it arrives, expect it to get an updated design of the TUV300.
