It’s confirmed – the fully-faired Suzuki Gixxer 155 will be known as the Suzuki Gixxer SF in India. The name has been officially unveiled on an official invitation to the media, furthermore Suzuki calls the SF as the ‘Street Sport Bike’. And has also disclosed, the launch date for the motorcycle, which is April 7th.
The Gixxer SF comes with the same mechanicals as the naked Gixxer 155.
For those of you who are eager to know what additional features does the Gixxer SF have to offer, when compared to the naked Gixxer 155! Well nothing, absolutely nothing, apart from a new full body fairing which seems to be inspired from the big bikes like the Hayabusa and the GSX-R600. To account for the additional weight of the fairing, Suzuki might re-tune this engine to churn out slightly more power.
Powering the faired-sibling will be the same engine and transmission as the naked bike – a 155 cc, single-cylinder, carburetted engine that delivers 14.8 PS and 14 Nm torque, but is likely to have an improved top speed if the engine is re-tuned. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The engine will feature Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology, which the company claims enhances fuel efficiency.
Suzuki Motorcycles India all-set to launch Gixxer SF on 7th April 2015.
Like its naked sibling, the Gixxer SF will have a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear and comes with disc and drum brakes at the front and rear respectively. The company will not feature rear disc brake, even as an option. It will be available in five colours – Pearl Mirage White, Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Sparkle Black, Candy Red and Metallic Grey.
The Gixxer SF is likely to be priced very aggressively say about Rs. 5,000 – 8,000 extra over the price of Suzuki Gixxer, which will be around Rs. 80,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) making it the cheapest fully-faired bike in the country. It might be the game changer for the Suzuki Motorcycle in India as this rules monopoly in the new segment, without any worthy competitors.
