Couple of months before, we posted an article reporting that Suzuki has started working on a full-faired performance oriented 150cc motorcycle called the ‘GSX 150R’ to compete with the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R, which might see the light of the day at 2014 Auto Expo in Noida next-month. Surprisingly, today a naked version of the same has been spotted at the Noida expressway by xbhp.com member Vaibhav Saigal.
Mr. Vaibhav who spotted the motorcycle says he has seen 2 Suzuki test mules, although he has managed to snap only one picture. He also mentioned that the bike was doing around 125 kph when snapped – which means the new Suzuki should pack in more punch than the GS150R and add up on the performance chart. As said earlier, we feel a full-faired version of the above pictured motorcycle will launch some time later.
Going by the spy picture, the logo on its air scoops read ‘Suzuki Gixer’ and looking at the engine size – it’s most probably a 150cc variant. Talking about the design, the bike is quite sporty with the front headlight taking inspiration from the Pulsar 200NS. The exhaust is clearly inspired by the bigger engined Suzuki bikes like the GSX-R, with twin holes. The bike appears to have a nice long wheelbase and the rear tyre appears to be a 140 section rubber like in the FZ series. The bike also sports a step-up seats and monoshock rear suspension, but lacks a rear disc brake.
Undoubtedly, this new Gixer 150 will change the fortune of Suzuki Motorcycles India similar to what the FZ did to Yamaha’s balance sheet. In the spy picture, the motorcycle is seen without any registration plate and fully uncovered hinting the possibility of being unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo or at the Suzuki’s mystery press conference on 27th January, 2014. At the moment, Suzuki Motorcycles India lacks variety of products but the automaker is seriously looking at expanding its portfolio.
