Sachin Tendulkar sold his Michael Schumacher gifted Ferrari 360 Modena, yes replacing a Ferrari is tough, especially if it has been gifted to you. But having taken the decision to do away with the “prancing horse”, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has driven in a new red Nissan GT-R Supercar into Maestro’s Garage.
However something stayed from that Ferrari 360 Modena! MH 01 AD 9999 the Ferrari registration plate has been retained. Cricket god now owns four cars, the other three being a Skoda and two BMWs. Now the latest GT-R is a rocket but selling off a Ferrari to buy a Nissan seems a bit strange.
Now the story goes something like this, the Ferrari 360 was sold by Sachin because the car’s low ground clearance proved to be a major deterrent on Mumbai roads, and Sachin being a driving enthusiast found it difficult to drive the car around, which prompted him to go for the Nissan GT-R 530, whose relatively higher ground clearance means that the master blaster can fully enjoy the 530 Bhp power output from the six cylinder twin turbo engine of the four wheel drive Nissan GT-R.
Jayesh Desai, Chairman of Raj Hans group who bought the Ferrari 360 Modena said “This is a special Ferrari 360 Modena because two legends are associated with it.”
The 2012 Nissan GT-R produces all of 530PS of power at 6400 RPM and 612 Nm of torque between 3,200-6,000 RPM. That is a significant improvement over the previous model which had 485 bhp of power on tap. Add to that a 0-100 kmph time of just 3 seconds and a top speed of well over 300 kmph. The car was imported from Arabian Automobiles, who even send two engineers to help Sachin out with the numerous settings of the most complicated 4-wheel drive system in the world.
Thus, Sachin Tendulkar’s latest ride might be less flashy than the red Ferrari, but when it comes to pure performance, it is right up there. The new red Nissan GT-R costs $87,000 (Rs 40 lakh approx without duties).
