The 60 new dealerships will play a key role in bringing in the sales of for the brand. These will be setup in Tier-2 and Tier-3 parts of the nation as these are more price sensitive markets. At present, aside from having 21 selective Datsun showrooms, Nissan India’s dealerships double up as Datsun dealerships.

Since the launch of the Go and that of the Go+, 17,000 units have been sold under the Datsun brand and inside a couple of weeks this number is situated to cross the 20,000 imprint. With this, Sicard says, Nissan India’s share of the overall industry has gone up from 1 percent to 3 percent. Generally, Nissan India’s dealership tally is on its way to hit the 300 imprint soon.

Having a strong after sales service network plays a pivotal role in determining a brand’s success and the same can be seen through Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai’s network. Strengthening of the dealership network will help Datsun cater to a much wider audience which it hasn’t been able to reach out as of now.
