The image seen above is the firstever spy pictures of 2013 Skoda Octavia in Indian soil and surprisingly, these awaited premium sedan were spotted in 2 locations Mumbai and Bangalore without a piece of camouflage, that further makes a believe the launch is near. The new generation Octavia will replace the current model Octavia (known as Laura in India).
The 2013 Octavia has a lot more space than its predecessor, the Laura. The length of the interior is 1782 mm, and provides more head, leg and knee room for front and rear passengers. The vehicle is based on a stretched version of Volkswagen’s new MQB platform, such that the length of the vehicle is now 4659 mm, 90 mm longer than the Laura.
For the new Octavia, the wheelbase has been stretched by a generous 108 mm, to 2686 mm, which is even more than the Volkswagen Jetta, considered to be the best in this class. Although the new Octavia is bigger and better from almost everywhere, but the delicious part is that it will likely to have the price of the current Laura. Now that is stonking value for money!
On the inside, it will be more luxurious and feature loaded than the current model. India-spec 2013 Octavia are likely to come powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre TDI turbocharged diesel engine, tuned for high fuel efficiency. Skoda India might also add an entry level 1.6-litre TDI turbo diesel engine variant to keep the costs under check.
In India, we speculate Skoda Auto to launch the all-new 2013 Skoda Octavia in the second half of this year.
