Bajaj Auto will launch the new tourer version of the Pulsar range christened ‘AS’, AS stands for Adventure Sport. The company on its official Facebook page has confirmed that the ‘Pulsar AS’ (Adventure Sport) will launch today.
The company has been testing two AS models reportedly – Pulsar 200AS and 150AS. There is no confirmation on what is launching today, but on its invite Bajaj Auto said it would be a ‘new Pulsar range’. Prior to today’s launch, a Facebook page named ‘Pulsar 200AS – Adventure Sport’ has shared the picture of the Pulsar 200AS (Adventure Sport) spotted at a stock yard in unknown location.
From the images, we can make out that the Pulsar 200AS is dimensionally identical to the regular 200NS, but gets an attractive half-fairing with an ‘Adventure Sport’ decal, a projector headlight and rear fender similar to the current-gen Pulsar 150/180/220. And gets other useful upgrade needed for the touring motorcycle like an adequate fly-screen for better wind protection & reduce wind noise.
Furthermore, the features carried-on from the naked 200NS include a mono-suspension, under belly exhaust, semi-digital instrument cluster, fuel tank, new alloy wheels, grab rails, tail lamp cluster and split seats. Based on these images, it appears that the 200AS will not get an ABS system, but will carry over the 280 mm front disc and the 230 mm rear disc from the 200NS.
Powering the Pulsar 200AS will be a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with triple-spark technology mated 6-speed gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 23.2bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 18.3Nm using a carburetor type fuel system. However, at the moment we are not sure if the power and torque outputs are increased for the added weight of the fairing.
