Spied – Tata Indica based MPV spotted in Pune

As the Indian car market is gearing up for a big show up in 2012 with lots of launched down the line, roads in Pune are busy testing new car mules. Recently, an MPV shaped car has been spied on the Pune roads and looking at the built up and features visible to the naked eye, it is in all probability a Tata Indica based MPV. The camouflaged car posed straight Tata product characteristics and seems more like an upward stretched Tata Indica. If it comes out to be an MPV, other MPVs in India including Maruti Ertiga must prepare itself for a strong fight as soon as it is launched in India.

Features that prove that it is a Tata product and certainly one based on Tata’s best selling hatchback car Tata Indica are the outside rear view mirrors as well the front appearance of the mule. The silencer too appears to be a Tata Indica one besides the number plate which is of Maharashtra. Notably, there has been some silence in the Tata pavilion since long except the launch of Tata Safari Storme at the Auto Expo and the lately launch of 2012 Tata Nano. It would not be surprising if Tata soon announces a new addition to its brigade in the form of this MPV and this is the test mule of it.

If we analyze the prospects of the new Tata Indica based MPV in India then there is nothing that pulls it down. There is certainly a need of an entry level MPV in India that can be truly called an entry level MPV. The Indica MPV will sport a CR2 diesel engine and is expected to at the prime focus of Tata and it will be presenting it as a family car that is able to cater to the family car needs of the average Indian car buyer. Thus, what is expected is the low pricing of the Tata Indica MPV similar to the hatchback which still offers the cheapest diesel powered hatchback in India.
