Details had been filtering in about Tata’s new Sumo for a while, It is now three years since the Tata Sumo Grande was launched in India, that Tata Motors has finally decided to give its upmarket MUV a makeover. Now our friends at OnCars.in have spotted a new Tata Sumo Grande with minor cosmetic changes. Although no major changes to the exterior the car looks very much similar to a current model.
From the spy pictures note the absence of the “Sumo” badging at the rear which Tata has been serving for years, also missing are the ‘Mark II’ badges. The Sumo brand is mainly associated with the Taxi crowd, and seems like Tata wants to shun that image off the Grande with its plan to drop the ‘Sumo’ brand name. This leaves the Sumo brand with just the BS3 versions of Victa and Spacio which are still sold in the older shape.
The changes spotted in the new Grande will get vertical acrylic appliqués on either side of the rear windshield, Body graphics and mirror finished inserts instead of body coloured parts on either side of the front grill. The interiors have been revamped in the form of darker wooden trim as in the new Indica eV2.
Looking at the pictures the MUV looks almost production ready and we too expect it to be on sale by the festive season later this year.
