Skoda are keen on bringing the Superb Sportline to the Indian market. The Superb Sportline is basically a performance-oriented version of the Superb sold here. There have been no details about its launch yet but expect it to be coming in early 2019.
Skoda Auto India has listed the Superb Sportline on its local website and says that it’s “coming soon”.
The Superb Sportline is being offered by the automaker in various markets across Europe. It will feature some tweaks in styling along with much sportier dynamics compared to the stock model. Skoda will look to bask on their new-found success from the Octavia vRS by giving the Superb a similar sporty treatment.
The Superb Sportline will feature additional black exterior design elements, 18-inch glossy black alloy wheels and ‘Sportline’ badge on the front fender, rear windshield and tinted rear side window. Inside the car, we can see exclusive sports seats, leather steering wheel and aluminum pedals, also seen on the Octavia vRS. Skoda will lower the suspension of the Sportline by 15mm to give it a distinct character.
Skoda Superb Sportline benefits from a sports chassis that lowers the ride height by 15 mm.
Engine-wise, the Superb Sportline will come in both petrol and diesel options. The petrol motor will be the 1.8-litre turbocharged one, giving 180 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. On the other hand, there is a 2.0-litre TDi diesel engine, capable of producing 177 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque.
The petrol motor will come mated either to a 7-speed DSG transmission or a 6-speed manual one. Coming to the diesel motor, it will be paired with a 6-speed DSG transmission. Both these engines are also offered on the European-spec models.
We can expect more details regarding the car to come out soon. There are also rumours that Skoda will also bring the Kodiaq SUV in the Sportline guise after the Superb. This came after the Superb Sportline was surprisingly listed on the company’s official Indian website.
