Pune is among the cities who have the highest number of two-wheelers plying in the country. Needless to say, due to the high number of vehicles, the roads in the city are pretty much crowded at all times. So in order to help the citizens, the Pune Traffic Police has come forth with a video which is quite unique and the cops have sung in it in Kolaveri-Di style to promote traffic safety.
The Pune Traffic Police has about 35,000 facebook fans and it constantly keeps on updating its page about road safety tips and updates about the traffic in the city. It has updates about road-construction, traffic safety points, contact numbers of Police officers in-charge, etc. Now the authority has shared a Kolaveri Di styled song on its page which has been created by the authority and it is aimed squarely at showcasing that the Pune Traffic Police works constantly towards controlling the traffic situation in the city.
Kolaveri Di was the song that hit virality overnight and went on to become the most popular video. Various musicians came-up with their version of the same and so did Pune Traffic Police. It released the same in February-2012 on its website www.punetrafficpolice.gov.in but it was in September-2013 that it was uploaded to Facebook and started gaining popularity.
The song has been sung in English and Marathi and has jingles which attract awareness towards various traffic safety rules such as wearing helmets, crossing at zebra crossings only, not driving rash, not using your cell phone while driving and obeying traffic signals. Vishwas Pandhare, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) and Vijay Palsula Inspector (Planning and Administration) and two non-police officials are the ones behind the song that has a length of about 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
The same has been garnering a lot of attention and is expected to contribute in a big way to the road safety campaign of the Pune Traffic Police.
