German luxury car brand Audi cars, will launch the next generation A6 sedan in India on the 3rd of August, 2011. This has now been officially confirmed by Audi and the launch will take place in Gurgaon. Audi will put this vehicle on the market for customers at present enticed by the Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series or the Mercedes Benz E-Class. Expect prices of the new A6 to start at Rs. 40 lakhs, helping Audi to garner a larger share of the luxury car market.
We recently posted an article saying Audi India has commenced assembly operations of the all new Audi A6 at its Aurangabad plant through CKD kits. The company plans to sell 2000 units of the 2011 Audi A6 in the Indian market this year. The Audi A6 is only the third model from Audi’s stable to be locally assembled in India, the other two being the A4 and Q5.
The new Audi A6 will be incorporated with the engine start and stop mechanism and seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The new Audi A6 is believed to have borrowed its features from the Audi A8. The new Audi A6 is loaded with the best attributes that includes powerful engine, superb styling and extraordinary interior designing classifying it in its own unique league. Built on the C7 Type 4G platform, 2012 Audi A6 is lighter than the current variant by 30 kgs. Even after reducing body weight, new Audi A6 will have a longer wheelbase, means the 2012 A6 is longer than current A6 by 3 inches and wider by 0.7 inches.
The new Audi A6 will be available in the market in four variants including the petrol, diesel and the Quattro engine variants. The new Audi A6 is expected to be powered with the highly efficient and powerful 2.8 FSI and 3.0 supercharged TFSI petrol engines. The diesel variant of the new Audi A6 will house 2.0 TDI engine, the other variant of the new Audi A6 will be powered with Quattro engine. The A6 2.0 TDi will be the base A6 variant, helping Audi to price the car very competitively against established rivals like the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series.
