My, oh my, Toyota just can’t keep the leaks plugged, can it? Just couple of weeks prior to its official unveiling on November 23, 2015 in Indonesia, the 2016 Toyota Innova has been completely revealed via leaked press photos published on IndianAutosBlog.
We’ve already seen pretty much what the MPV will look like – thanks to the leaked photos of undisguised cars floating on the Internet – but here is the first proper look at the second-generation Toyota Innova. Clearly inspired by the Highlander SUV, the styling is certainly the most outlandish and dynamic to ever grace an Innova, even though much of the proportions remain the same as before.
The 2016 Innova gets all-new front fascia with a flatter bonnet, new projector headlamps with integrated Daytime Running Lights, dual-slat chrome grille, new bumper with a wide air dam and round fog lamps. At the rear, the vehicle features a new tailgate with a spoiler, shark-fin antenna, re-designed windshield, revised bumper and split tail-lights that stretch horizontally across the tail-gate.
On the inside, the second-gen Innova gets black interiors with faux wood and silver inserts, a re-styled dashboard, multifunction steering wheel, redesigned instrument cluster with a TFT MID, touchscreen infotainment system, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and a chilled glovebox. The climate control system gets an upgrade too, as it now features automatic capabilities instead of a manual setup.
In Indonesia, the 2016 Innova will be offered in 2 engine options – 2.0-litre petrol engine and 2.4-litre diesel engine. Both engines can be paired to either a 6-speed auto or 5-speed manual, and will be offered in 3 variants – G, V and Q. In India, the second-gen Innova will compete with the upcoming Tata Hexa when launched sometime in 2016.
