Before its world premiere, it seems that the variants list of the Next-Gen Innova has been leaked. Otomotif Kompas, an Indonesian Automotive website, has released a picture of a list of variants of the upcoming Innova and has claimed it to be the official variants list.

All the variants displayed in the list are for the Indonesian market. The Nine variants in the list are;

Petrol powered variants

  •   2.0G MT
  •   2.0V MT
  •   2.0G AT
  •   2.0V AT
  •   2.0Q AT

Diesel powered variants

  • 2.4G AT
  • 2.4V AT
  • 2.4Q AT
  • 2.4V MT

Toyota seems to have removed the ‘J’ and ‘E’ variants from the Innova’s list but has added the top of the line ‘Q’ variant with best in class features like LED headlamps, Captain seats, chilled glovebox, leather upholstery etc. which we doubt would be made available in India, even on the top of the line model.

The petrol powered Innova in Indonesia currently uses a 2.7 liter, 4-cylinder VVT-i engine, but looks like that is going to change with the 2016 Innova as Toyota seems to be offering the 2.0 liter VVT-i engine instead on the Next-Gen Innova. The 2.0 liter petrol engine has been powering the petrol variant in India, which is quite a rare sight and also the Corolla Altis in Indonesia as well as India, among other countries.

The diesel variant would also see downsizing, as the 2.5 liter turbo-diesel unit powering the current Innova around the world seems to have been replaced by a 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine. Toyota will also be offering an automatic gearbox on the Innova, which in all probability, will be a 6-speed unit. As for the manual variant, we do not know if it will be a 5-speed or a 6-speed.

Toyota seems to have equipped the Next-Gen Innova pretty generously. For the Indonesian market, safety features such as ABS, EBD and dual-front airbags will be offered as standard, across all models, and the top end model will get a new safety feature called ‘Vehicle Stability Management’. In addition to this, the Next-Gen Innova will be made available with different driving modes (Sport and Eco) to optimize drive-ability.
