Tata Harrier steps into the dark side with 2 more options

Tata Motors have recently done a few alterations on the Harrier. This includes launching the much awaited facelifted model of the mid-size SUV in June, thereby adding a few more important features to its list. This has slowly resulted in better demand coming for the car thereafter, which is a good sign for the automaker.

As for now, the Tata Harrier receives another update though not quite in the magnitude of the one launched a couple of months ago. The update comes for its Dark Edition, which is added to two more trims of the car, namely XT and XT+. It is to be noted that the Dark Edition of the Tata Harrier was only available with its top-spec XZ and XZ+ trims earlier.

The Dark Edition for the XT trim now costs Rs.16.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On the other hand, the XT+ trim will be available with a Dark Edition for just Rs.17.3 lakh. This results in a price drop of as much as Rs.1.35 lakh for the Harrier.

However, the Dark Edition for the new trims of the mid-size SUV command a small premium of Rs.10,000 in comparison to its other models. The Dark Edition of the Harrier is pretty much the same as the normal one, with the difference being the black colour featuring in pretty much the entire car. It receives a host of features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reverse parking camera, cruise control, automatic headlamps and a panoramic sunroof.

On the engine front, the Dark Edition of the Harrier does come with the same 2.0 litre, four-cylinder diesel motor as seen on its other trims. This engine makes 168 BHP of power along with 350 Nm of torque. It comes mated with options of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT transmission.

As far as its rivals are concerned, the Tata Harrier takes on the MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks in its segment. The recent price drop for the popular mid-size SUV may not have come at a better time, with the Harrier slowly gaining sales momentum in the past couple of months. It is also very much in line with the upcoming festive season, where we may expect many more vehicles to also feature reductions.
