Nissan is seriously considering the launch of the Kicks mid-size SUV to the Indian market. This is happening for quite some time now and as per reports, the Kicks is expected to arrive in January 2019. This mid-size SUV from Nissan will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
Globally, the Kicks is based on Nissan’s V-platform seen on the Micra. But, the automaker will use the cost effective B0 platform in India, which is seen on Datsun models here. It will help Nissan to reduce the cost of the vehicle and also make it bigger in comparison to the ones sold globally.
Engine-wise, the Kicks will employ a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder dCi diesel engine, giving 110 BHP of power and 245 Nm of torque. Nissan will also consider the 1.5-litre, H4K petrol engine which produces 106 BHP of power and 142 Nm of torque. We can expect Nissan to give the option of an automatic transmission alongside the manual one.
Prices are expected to start from Rs. 9 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 14 lakh for the top trim. The Kicks will spearhead Nissan’s India offensive, with the automaker lining up a slew of launches which will take place in the coming years. This mid-size SUV is expected to grab some eyeballs when launched, so all the onus will be on Nissan.
