Nissan India have confirmed that they will launch the Kicks mid-size SUV to the Indian market. The much awaited Kicks will be launched by the end of this year. It will be Nissan’s first New product in 5 years, barring the launch of the Datsun brand.
The Kicks is based on the B-Zero platform shared with the Renault Captur and Duster. It will come loaded with features which include a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, start-stop button, automatic climate control and so on. On the safety front, it will have dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.
Engine-wise, the Kicks will be available in both petrol and diesel ones. The petrol engine will be a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated unit producing 104 BHP of power and 140 Nm of torque. As far as the diesel is concerned, it will be a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged K9K unit giving 108 BHP of power and 248 Nm of torque.
The petrol engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with CVT being available as an option. On the diesel engine, you get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Mechanically, the Kicks will be similar to the Renault duo of the Captur and the Duster.
We can expect prices to start from Rs. 9 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 18 lakh. The Kicks will lock horns with the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment With the Kicks, Nissan will hope for a fresh start to its Indian operations, which at the moment is moving rather slowly.
