Renault-Nissan India Ltd. have confirmed that Nissan will launch the Kicks SUV in India sometime next-year. The Kicks has received good reviews worldwide and Nissan is looking at its success to come to India as well. Nissan will position it as a premium SUV and will position it above the Terrano in its line-up.
As far as the engine is concerned, the Kicks will borrow the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine, currently seen on the Terrano. Even the gearbox will also be shared alongside the Terrano. Styling-wise, the car has a distinctive crossover look, which will surely grab some eyeballs.
The Kicks will share the same body platform with the Renault Captur, which is set for a launch here this month. It will be underpinned by the MO platform chassis, seen on the Renault Duster, Lodgy and Captur. Nissan will surely offer some good equipment in order to make it par with its rivals.
Pricing is expected to be aggressive and in the range of the Renault Captur. It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa and, of course, the Renault Captur. Nissan will be looking on the Kicks to revive it’s slow sales and make an impact in the market.
