The eighth-gen Toyota Camry will launch in India on 18 January 2019.

Ahead of its India launch, the Camry was recently teased by the automaker. The teaser shows the Camry in a red paint scheme along with blue accents on the badging, which showcases its hybrid characteristics. We can also see a new and attractive looking design synonymous with various Toyota and Lexus models sold internationally.

The Camry will be underpinned by Toyota’s New Global Architecture (GA-K) platform, seen on models like the Lexus ES. It will be available with features like a new touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, sunroof, larger alloy wheels, automatic climate control, reclining rear seats and so on. Coming to its safety, the Camry will come equipped with 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning and safety exit assist.

Engine-wise, the Camry will be employing a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine. This engine is capable of delivering 174 BHP of power and 221 Nm of torque. There will be a 116 BHP producing hybrid motor, with the total power output tallying to 205 bhp.

We can expect the new Camry to be priced at around Rs. 25-35 lakh, which would make it a good pick amongst competitors. These include the Skoda Superb and the Honda Accord. India has been a good market for the Camry over the years, so we can expect the new model to cash in on the success enjoyed by its predecessors.
