Hero MotoCorp has planned to launch of the Xtreme 200S, which is set to launch this-year. The Extreme 200S was showcased in the Auto Expo last-year, and its launch means that the company will enter an unknown territory for them: the 200cc segment. Rumours have come-out that the Xtreme 200S is scheduled to be launched as early as this month.
The company will look to expand its portfolio, which largely consists of commuter bikes and scooters, except for the Xtreme 150. Since almost all its rivals here are represented in the premium motorcycle segment and its growth in recent times may have led to Hero joining the segment. Hero will again be dependent on its not so successful Xtreme nameplate to represent itself in the segment.
As far as specifications are concerned, the upcoming Xtreme 200S has the street-fighter look also seen in its younger engine. It will be powered by a 200cc air-cooled engine producing 18.34 BHP of power and 17.2 Nm of torque. The Xtreme 200S will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox and will feature ABS as well as disc brakes on either end.
Hero MotoCorp may expect to price the Xtreme 200S at around Rs. 90,000 to 1 lakh, which may decide its fate after the initial hype. The Xtreme 200S will lock horns with the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. Hopefully, we may get to see some new tech as well as new trends in the bike after its launch.
