The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will share the platform with the upcoming Mahindra Thar which is expected to debut at 2020 Auto Expo.

This will be the fourth-generation of the Scorpio in India. We can see the vehicle wrapped up in heavy camouflage, carrying forward a new design theme. The next-generation Scorpio looks longer and wider than the one currently on-sale here.

One of its most prominent changes we can see is a new grille along with headlamps. This enables the vehicle to get a bolder look compared to its predecessor. On the inside, we can expect a new dashboard having a list of features.

These include a new touchscreen infotainment system, a modern instrument cluster and a new steering wheel. It looks likely to carry forward the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine, albeit with upgraded BS-VI standards. There is also talk of a new 2.0 litre diesel motor, which at present, is being developed by the automaker.

The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio is reported to been developed at the Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC).

Other features include front airbags, ABS and EBD as standard, reverse parking sensors, hill start assist and passenger seat belt warning. The fourth-generation Scorpio is likely to be unveiled during the 2020 Auto Expo. Mahindra is yet to reveal the launch timeline of the vehicle, but we can expect it to be here by end-2020.

The next-generation Scorpio will slot between the XUV500 and the Alturas in Mahindra’s line-up. It will rival the likes of the MG Hector, Renault Duster and the Tata Safari Storme. Mahindra will hope for the new Scorpio to replicate the success of its predecessors and bring good sales numbers for them.
