Hyundai will be launching the next-generation of their popular hatchback, the Grand i10, here in August. As per reports, the new Grand i10 is set for an official launch on 20 August. The next-generation Grand i10 has been spotted numerous times in camouflage, undergoing its testing phase.
It is expected to be longer and wider than the current model on sale now. The design of the car will be in line with Hyundai’s current fluidic design theme. There will be some changes in its exterior along with the addition of a couple of new features on the interior.
The exterior will feature a new front and rear end, new headlamps, tail-lamps, alloy wheels and bumpers. As far as its interior is concerned, the next-gen Grand i10 will receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system will also consist of Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car technology, seen on the recently launched Venue.
Engine-wise, the new Grand i10 will carry the same set of engines seen on the current model. The petrol version will be a 1.5 litre motor, giving 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. On the other hand, there will be a 1.5 litre diesel motor which makes 75 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque.
Both come mated to options of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The 5-speed automatic, which made its debut in the new Santro, will replace the 4-speed automatic transmission seen on the current model. Hyundai are expected to launch the next-gen Grand i10 at a bit of a premium in terms of its price.
This would mean prices will start from Rs.4.5 lakh and go all the way to Rs.9 lakh for the top trims. The next-generation Grand i10 will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and the Mahindra KUV100. Hyundai will hope that the new Grand i10 will continue its winning streak that its predecessors have achieved over the years.
