Maruti Suzuki will be looking to strengthen their presence in the MPV market here. The automaker already has the Ertiga operating in the segment, which is a decent seller. Now, the automaker is planning on bringing another MPV, which will be based on the Ertiga, by the end of this year.
As per reports, the upcoming MPV will be sold via Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA outlets. It will be positioned as a more premium alternative to the Ertiga. This will be a 6-seater,with the middle row having captain seats.
Dimensionally, the vehicle will carry some changes compared to the Ertiga. It consists of features like LED headlamps and DRL’s, leather upholstery and new alloy wheels. On safety, the MPV will be having dual airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control and child lock system.
Engine-wise, the MPV will be powered by the new 1.5 litre diesel motor. This motor is estimated to produce about 95 bhp of power. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki are expected to price the MPV at around Rs.9-12 lakh, which will be marginally expensive than the Ertiga. When launched, it will rival the Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy. It will be having some cosmetic changes, which will make it a different looking vehicle from the Ertiga.
