Maruti Suzuki micro-SUV on the cards, will be launched next-year

Maruti Suzuki have built their reputation on small affordable hatchbacks for more than three decades in India. The automaker has been focusing on bringing more and more models in that range during the coming years. One of them will be in the form of a micro-SUV slated for launch next-year.

Unlike Tata Motors Concept cars, Maruti Suzuki Concept cars most of the design do not go into production.

This car will be based on the Future S concept showcased during the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be slotted under the four-metre mark to avail tax benefits. The car will have a similar wheelbase and structural design compared to the Ignis.

We can expect this micro-SUV to have a high stance and bonnet line with wide hunches. This will surely entice buyers, who are fond of SUV-like small hatchbacks. We can expect the car to come loaded with features and accessories when it gets launched.

Maruti Suzuki Future S-based small SUV will be offered only with a petrol engine initially.

Coming to its engine, this micro SUV will come powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. However, it is unlikely to see the car being launched in a diesel version. It will come made it to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic version expected to arrive later.

We can expect this micro-SUV to be priced at Rs. 5 lakhs, which well give it an affordability bonus over its rivals. These include the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and the launch-bound Hyundai Santro. It looks unlikely that the car will replace any model from Maruti Suzuki’s line-up here.
