As we reported earlier, Hyundai has showcased its new 2012 Hyundai i20 Fluidic at the Geneva Motor Show. Now our sources speaking to Hyundai officials confirmed, new i20 facelift will hit Hyundai dealers in India by end-June or early-July this year. Currently, it is widely rumoured as the launch scheduled for April.
New 2012 Hyundai i20 Fluidic has been designed keeping in mind Hyundai’s latest fluidic sculpture design language. The front end of the new 2012 Hyundai i20 has been worked on, replete with new headlamps, a new hexagonal grille design, new front bumpers and fog lamps. As for the changes at the rear end, the Fluidic philosophy guided changes include a new tail lamp design and bumper design. The new i20 also sports a brand new alloy wheel design.
In terms of dimensions, the width (1710mm), height (1490mm) and wheelbase (2525mm) of i20 remain the same, while the length has increased by just 55mm (front 30mm, rear 25mm) over its predecessor to 3995mm.
For the international markets, the i20 will be unveiled with its new 1.1-liter, 3 cylinder turbo diesel engine good for 74Bhp. The other diesel engine is of course the 1.4-liter, 90Bhp unit, which we in India are quite familiar with. If the new engine makes it to our shores is yet to be known. Another rumour suggest, Hyundai bringing back the 6 speed manual gearbox for the i20 diesel are doing rounds, it’s still too early to be sure.
