New Ford Ka/Figo close-to-production concept unveiled in Spain, to launch 4 new models in India by 2015

Ford India celebrated after the recent launch of their EcoSport on June 26^th this year. In order to take its business further, the American automaker Ford has planned to introduce at least 4 new models to the Indian market by 2015. Earlier Ford had decided to launch 8 new models to the Indian market. The compact SUV EcoSport which brought amazing success to Ford is one of the 4 new models out of 8 already being launched.

As per the reports obtained, the 4 new models from Ford include a Figo replacement, a compact car, new Endeavour and a hatchback. To begin with discussing on some of the media reports obtained, Ford has planned to introduce a Figo replacement at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo in 2014. It is well known that Ford cars have a minimum lifespan of 5 years and knowing the fact that Figo was released in 2010. We expect Ford’s Figo replacement to come out by 2015.

And surprisingly, the American car manufacturer has today unveiled the production version of next-gen Ford Ka/Figo in Spain. The production-spec Ford Ka/Figo looks similar to the images Ka posted on Ford Brazil’s official Facebook page. Compared to the Brazilian Ka, this model gets the conventional headlamps unlike the string of LEDs on Brazilian version. Its front fascia will have the same grille, the foglamp enclosures are more rounded and production-ready than the original design. The concept is parked on 5-spoke alloy wheels, which could be 15-inch in size.

Ford also has plans to introduce a compact car which would compete the likes of Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark, Nissan Micra Active and the upcoming Datsun Go hatchback in the Indian market. Coming to the upcoming new Endeavour, it is expected to inherit lot of styling cues from the recently launched Ford EcoSport. The new Endeavour is expected to be powered with an option of 2.2-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 150bhp or a 3-litre diesel engine.

Finally, Ford has also got plans to launch a new hatchback which would compete the likes of Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20 in the Indian market. Since Ford already has EcoSport in the price of the hatchbacks, Ford might also think of introducing a compact Sedan or a premium hatchback.
