Ford India is in full-swing to occupy more market share in Indian car market. Recently they unveiled the limited edition of the Endeavour and then the Figo with new features. Now at the media drive on Monday, Ford has conveyed that the new Fiesta 2011 will get a dual clutch Powershift automatic gearbox that is a segment-first feature and is scheduled to launch in January, 2012. However, the six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox will be available only with the petrol engined version of the new Fiesta. This will cost Rs. 75,000/- more than the existing variants. The Fiesta Automatic has hill start assist and will boast of excellent fuel economy, but lack of diesel automatic a surprise.
Although, Ford is not offering paddle shifter in the Fiesta, the most important fact is that this technology is alien to the segment and is offered only in the top end models of cars starting from Skoda Laura and VW Jetta. Remember Ford India has promised to place 8 new products starting with the Fiesta sedan in the market by mid-2012.
