The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling pickup truck in the world, known for its indestructibility, luxurious feel and great looks. However, the Japanese car maker has completely ignored the Hilux pickup for India.
The Hilux pickup comes in many iteration depending on the country such as the standard, Revo, Revolution, TRD & so on… And I honestly feel all of these versions still looks fresh atleast for me. But its direct competitors like Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and Mitsubishi L200 have already received a new design for the current decade, while Nissan Navara also called Frontier or NP300 is expected to receive a facelift soon.
Basically, the Toyota Hilux is pickup variant of Toyota Fortuner SUV sharing the same rugged body-on-frame design and engine options. Despite adopting the same mechanicals, the Fortuner doesn’t always share many design characteristics with the Hilux. But both of these vehicles go hand-in-hand with the launch like the current-generation which were together first introduced in 2016.
Now both of these vehicles go under the knife for a 2021 mid-cycle refresh, first it was the new Fortuner that leaked online. Now, we also have the 2021 Hilux pictures. Although we can’t guarantee the authenticity of these new Hilux photos because most of the parts replaced are surprisingly already available in the aftermarket shops.
The leaked pictures showing the new 2021 Hilux features a Tacoma-like hexagonal wide grille with a chrome frame. The range-topping options are expected to get the sweptback headlamps housing bi-beam LED lights and LED daytime running lights. While the lower variants are likely to receive standard halogen lights with an integrated LED position lamp.
The 2021 Hilux sports wraparound LED tail lights at the rear and a double-tone rear bumper. The pickup retains high-mounted stop lamp located above the chrome handle on the tail gate. The images also show that a new design 18-inch aluminum wheels on the higher options, and new design 17-inch aluminum wheels on the lower-spec model. Like the existing versions, the lower versions will miss-out chrome grille, door handles and ORVMs.
One of the leaked images shows the color options which the new 2021 Toyota Hilux will be on offer. The palette of colors is divided into three categories. Four ‘Standard Colors’ are available – Super White, Silver, Gray and Attitude Black. ‘Regional Colours’ include Oxide Bronze, Dk. Blue, Crimson Spark Red, Orange and Nebula Blue. The Emotional Red and White Pearl are two ‘Premium Colours.’
