Honda is planning to relaunch the Civic in India, which will be showcased in the 2018 Auto Expo. Launch is expected to take place sometime next-year. Honda previously launched the Civic in India way back in 2006, and had to discontinue the car due to poor sales in 2013.
Now, Honda thinks this will be the ideal time to bring the Civic back to India, despite the premium mid-size Sedan segment is slowly starting to fade. The internationally sold Civic carries a sporty design theme and will surely grab some eyeballs once it gets launched. It comes equipped with front and rear LED lights, Sporty alloy wheels and an aggressive front end at the exterior.
Honda sells the Civic with a 3-cylinder with a 1.0-litre VTEC petrol engine and a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine in European markets. The petrol engine produces 170 BHP of power and the diesel generates 315 BHP of power. Both will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic will be offered as an option.
The Honda Civic is expected to arrive at a price tag expected to start at Rs.13 lakhs and go all the way to Rs.20 lakhs. Rivals will include the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the Volkswagen Jetta. Since the Civic still has a strong brand identity in india, we can expect the car to perform well on sales when it arrives here.
