MG Motor showcased their upcoming crossover, the X-Motion last year. Unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, the X-Motion did manage to attract some spectators during the event. As per reports, MG are expected to be launching the vehicle by the end of the year.
Though MG have not spoken about their ambitions of launching the X-Motion here, it can also not be ruled out for India. Given by the looks of the UK-spec test mule, it looks a good product for our market. It carries forward a modern look, with smart looking light clusters and attractive design cues.
There is a possibility of the X-Motion coming with a 2.0 litre, turbocharged petrol motor. This motor will deliver 221 bhp of power, coming mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The X-Motion will come with an All Wheel Drive (AWD) system, which will deliver power equally to all four wheels.
As of now, MG Motor India are gearing up to launch their much-awaited mid-size SUV, the Hector. The Hector will have its manufacturing facility at MG Motor’s Halol plant in Gujarat, acquired from General Motors. If MG Motor India manages to receive a good response from customers regarding the Hector, we can expect the X-Motion to be coming here soon.
When launched, the X-Motion will be placed below the Hector in MG Motor India’s line-up. The X-Motion will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster. MG could also be planning an electric version of the X-Motion for India, as they are looking to launch it globally as well.
