The German car maker, Mercedes-Benz has launched a petrol variant of the GLE SUV in the country priced at Rs. 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). For now, it will be available as a CBU unit, the car maker is considering the local assembly in future.
This move comes to address the changing market sentiments, when the customers are inclining towards the petrol variants. The GLE 400 petrol is the 7th car to be launched by Mercedes-Benz India in 2016. And the GLE 400 4MATIC is the 1st variant of the GLE lineup to be available with a petrol engine option in India.
The GLE 400 4MATIC comes equipped with a 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with a healthy 333 BHP and 480 Nm of torque on tap. The engine is paired to Merc’s 7G-TRONIC Plus automatic gearbox as standard, which sends power to all four wheels via the 4MATIC system. Furthermore, it gets 5 driving modes – Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual, and Off-road.
Noteworthy features include LED headlamps, electric sunroof, front memory operated seats, parking package with sensors and 360-degree camera, Dynamic Select and AIRMATIC air suspension with adaptive dampening. It also comes with COMAND infotainment system with a 7-inch display, Harman Kardon Logic 7 Surround sound system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
As far as safety is concerned, it comes with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, and technologies like Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist and Brake Assist.
