Skoda India is all-set to launch the Rapid Monte Carlo edition during the upcoming festive season. The Monte Carlo edition is the special addition of the company’s mid-size sedan, the Rapid. It will closely resemble the limited edition Rapid to the ones sold abroad.
The Czech automaker is looking to cash in on the success of the facelifted Rapid launched recently. Having dethroned the Hyundai Verna To become the 3rd bestselling mid-size sedan, the Rapid is only behind to the Maruti Ciaz and Honda City. This special edition model will only get cosmetic changes which include a red exterior paint and blacked-out grille, alloy wheels and wing mirrors to keep it fresh.
A black tailgate spoiler can also be included and the interior will feature a black trim on the dashboard, RR stitching on the gear knob and an aluminium sport pedal.
The Rapid Monte Carlo edition, however, will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine seen on the current model, producing 109 BHP and 250 Nm. This model will also be available in a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 103 BHP and 153 Nm.
Skoda has recently made a name for itself here giving regular updates to their models by launching limited editions of them. The same goes for the Rapid, with a Monte Carlo edition which is likely to cost about ₹30,000 – 40,000 than the current model. Rivals include the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and its cousin VW Vento.
