Skoda Rapid upgraded for 2017 – now with 16-inch Alloys and Reverse Camera

ŠKODA AUTO India has silently upgraded the Style variant of its best-selling sedan, the Rapid. The 2017 year changes for the vehicle include new-look 16-inch alloys, reverse camera and soft-touch boot release button.

Additions of 3 new features are equipped on top-of-the-line Style variant in both petrol as well as diesel trims. Apart from the upsizing of the alloy wheels, there is a change in the rims design pattern as well. The new reverse camera is connected to a 6.5-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Mirrorlink technology.

Otherwise, the vehicle continues on as is – the 1.6L MPI petrol engine or the New 1.5L TDI diesel engine remains unchanged, as are the rest of the features list, which includes items such as chrome trim on steering wheel, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, cruise control, automatic front wipers, amberglow footwell illumination and cooled glove box.

The company has neither officially announced nor have they updated these new features on their official India website. According to the reports, the fresh batch of cars has already reached some dealerships and deliveries too have commenced. Reports also suggest that the Style variant is now dearer by Rs. 35,000/- approx, compared to the current Rapid Style.

However, we know that this segment is heating-up with cars like the segment leader new Honda City, its cousin updated VW Vento, NEXA-based Maruti Ciaz and the upcoming Hyundai Verna, has become a nightmare to the Rapid for the coming months, thus, in order to counter the effect, Skoda has updated the features on the top-spec Rapid.
