India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new WagonR Stingray on August 21 in Delhi. Couple of days before the launch, we got our hands on some more spy pictures of the India-spec Maruti WagonR Stingray would look like, both on the outside and the inside. Although the major change in exterior is seen, the interiors are more or less the same as the current WagonR’s, except for the addition of steering-mounted audio controls and an all-black.
The new WagonR Stingray launch is expected to boost the pace of Maruti car sales in India ahead of the festive season. The test drive cars have slowly began appearing at some dealer yards across the country, although the cars officially haven’t gotten around to the Maruti showrooms yet, to offer prospective WagonR Stingray buyers a test drive. The location of capture is yet to be ascertained, but these snaps are taken at a Maruti dealer yard.
From these images, the car spotted features a more aggressive front fascia, as it gets a slim headlamps, slimmer chrome grille, new bonnet with larger air dam and restyled fog lamp clusters. The vehicle sports a new grey finished alloy wheels. The rear side of the Stingray comes equipped with a new slimmer tail-lamp with clear lens units and chrome inserts, rear spoiler, new chrome strip on the top of the number plate with Stingray name on it.
On the inside, although rumors speculated that WagonR Stingray comes with a dual-tone color treatment. From the spy images we can see that WagonR Stingray gets steering mounted controls and all black interior color combinations. This will be the premium segment version of the tall boy car and it is believed that those who missed some luxury features in this car will be able to get it in this.
Under the hood, the WagonR Stingray comes powered by the same 1.0-litre K Series engine which makes 68 PS of power and 90 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. Like the WagonR’s top-end VXi variant, expect the Stingray to feature dual-front airbags and ABS. In terms of pricing, we expect WagonR Stingray to be priced around Rs. 40,000 to 50,000 more than the current WagonR.
