The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India hiked the prices of its new Swift Dzire model from this month by up to Rs.12,000. Maruti has offered this price hike only to the diesel variants of its new Dzire, seeking input costs pressure.
“The company is feeling the pressure of input costs. To mitigate the impact, we have hiked the prices of only diesel variants of the new DZire with effect from May 1,” a senior Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) official said. He also added that the company has increased the rates of the model between Rs.8,000 and Rs.12,000.
Recently in February this year, Maruti Suzuki India had rolled out a shorter version of its entry-level sedan DZire at an introductory price between Rs 4.79 lakh and Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the company priced the petrol variants of the new DZire between Rs 4.79 lakh and Rs 6.54 lakh, while the diesel ones come for Rs 5.80 lakh to Rs 7.09 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki India continues to produce the old DZire(renamed Swift Dzire Tour) in some specific entry-level variants to target the fleet/taxi market. The prices of the existing DZire ranges between Rs 4.94 lakh and Rs 7.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Refresher – Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with two engine as well as transmission options. While the 5-speed manual transmission engine is mandatory, the Dzire petrol variant also comes with 4-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol powered model has a 1.2L, 88PS K-series four cylinder engine with VVT. The diesel engine comes from the Italian car maker Fiat, 1.3L Multijet engine that churns out 75 Bhp-190 Nm power and torque figures.
