The Japanese bike maker, Yamaha Motors has announced the brand ambassador for its Scooter Range, the leading Bollywood Actress Deepika Padukone. Besides Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma is associated with TVS Motors, Priyanka Chopra with Hero Pleasure and Kareena Kapoor is associated with Mahindra Two Wheelers. While Deepika will endorse the scooter section of Yamaha, John Abraham will continue to be the brand ambassador of the company’s flagship bikes.
Yamaha India has now won two of the most loved Bollywood starts to endorse them, John Abraham as the brand’s bike ambassador and Deepika as the face of Yamaha Scooters India. Deepika will now do the commercials for Yamaha, print and TV commercials both, as per the deal. Yamaha is expecting is consumer base to be the female riders of age 24 years or below this, an age group that can easily relate to Deepika; also Deepika too can understand the needs and desires of this particular segments.
This is the first time that the actress will endorse an automobile product and Yamaha is upbeat that her feminine yet sporty disposition will gel easily with the Indian target audience. Besides this, Padukone’s status in the film industry matches positioning of Yamaha Scooters in the two wheeler industry.
Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO and MD, India Yamaha Motor Pvt.Ltd. said –
“Being young, fit, sporty and stylish, Ms. Deepika has all the elements that our customers will subscribe to when they buy our scooters. The youth adore her, respect her and follow her because she signifies an inherent sense of style that easily blends in with that of brand Yamaha.”
Although Yamaha has not announced anything on the price and technical specification front, it is expected that Ray will get a 125cc engine and will be priced around market leader Activa. The company is expected to launch the Ray scooter in September 2012 to cash on the festive season. Yamaha India will be introducing more scooters in the coming months, which will be aimed purely at city commuters.
