Maruti car buyers may be disappointed by ongoing strike at the Maruti Suzuki Manesar and Gurgaon units have had an adverse effect on production, and deliveries have been affected and delayed much to the annoyance of customers. Bookings are being cancelled and customers are opting for vehicles of other car manufacturers instead. With waiting periods of over three to four months, many customers cannot afford this long period, and have been settling for other auto companies, especially in case of the new Swift hatchback.
Maruti Suzuki has been enjoying a number 1 position in the country for years and has never had to deal with delayed sales and reduced production before. Now with long waiting periods driving away customers, rival companies are reaping the benefits while Maruti Suzuki is still trying to deal with labor problems with no end in sight.
This situation has not only affected sales but has also resulted in falling company stocks by 27% during the year. Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager – Sales and Marketing at the company said that unless the situation improves soon the upcoming festive season is not going to be very fruitful for Maruti Suzuki.
