The Ritz has been axed from the Maruti Suzuki’s range in India, echoing a move to make way for the company’s new offering, the Ignis.
The Ignis was scheduled to launch during this festive season; however, due to production constraints at the Maruti’s plant the launch was postponed. Although the carmaker remains tight-lipped about the Ignis launch, the trusted sources believe that it will appear at the Nexa showrooms by early-2017.
Competing head-on with the Mahindra KUV100, the Ignis is expected to be priced starting of around Rs. 5.5 lakh. It is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a reworked 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine, or the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine sending power to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT exclusive to the petrol variant.
