Earlier this-year, we bought our readers the firstever spy pictures of the Maruti Suzuki’s all-new offering called the Ciaz, acts as a replacement for its slow-selling SX4 sedan. It was spotted without any camouflage at one of Maruti’s facilities in August-2013. Now a Chinese automotive website has revealed the final production version of the Maruti Ciaz, which will be called Suzuki Alivio in the Chinese market.
Maruti Ciaz (Suzuki Alivio) – production model leaked
From the spy pictures, the production-spec Maruti Ciaz aka Suzuki Alivio looks similar to the earlier spotted test-mule in India. The notable change compared to the earlier spotted test-mule is the exhaust, the Ciaz gets dual exhaust pipes located neatly within the rear bumper which we doubt on the Indian-version. However, the India-spec Ciaz will get the chrome inserts on the grille, foglight enclosures, door handles and at the rear, which was earlier missing in the test-mule spotted in India.
Under the hood, the Ciaz will be available with two engine options the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine and 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine seen on board the Ertiga. Apart from this it is also expected that company might offer 1.6-litre diesel engine which would be more powerful and will aggressively compete with its existing contenders. The Ciaz will come in with a host of features with heavy emphasis on safety which will include ABS with EBD besides others.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 7.20 lakh to Rs. 10.50 lakh, and will compete against the new Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Renault Scala and Skoda Rapid. Maruti Suzuki India has already stopped production of SX4, there are rumors that the first batch of Ciaz’s production has already been successfully completed at Manesar plant. The Ciaz is all ready to be launched in the country by September-2014, just ahead of the festive season.
