A total of 33,098 units of the Maruti Alto 800 (19,780 units) and Alto K-10 (13,318 units), manufactured between 8th December 2014 and 18th February 2015, have been recalled over a faulty ‘right hand door latch assembly’.
The company claims that the problem area is said to be on the right hand side door (front and rear) which might be only partially latched, with a risk of opening if pressure is applied from inside. Although it is a rare condition, but in view of customer safety, Maruti Suzuki is undertaking replacement of the door latch assembly, proactively.
Maruti Suzuki dealers in the domestic market will contact owners of all the affected vehicles. The dealer workshop technicians will inspect the condition and carry out the necessary replacement, free of cost.
The customer is requested to fill in the chassis number (MA3 followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) on the computer screen. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice / registration documents.
Customers may also contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer workshop to ascertain if their vehicle is among the above vehicles.
