Not very long before the Mahindra XUV100 (codename S101) makes its Indian market debut – word on the vine is that the much-anticipated small-size family car is due to be launched in 3rd week of January-2016, and its appearance at Carter Road, Bandra in Mumbai, for a TV commercial shoot is a good indicator that it’s all getting very close now.
The vehicle was filmed by a Team-BHPian named ‘rjrohra’, who came upon the shoot in progress. The XUV100 was being filmed with a dog on the passenger seat and Varun Dhawan is reported to be the brand ambassador for the car. The clip by rjrohra caught the vehicle stationary, he tried to snap the front as well, but it turned out to be blurred.
The spotter claims that the front of the XUV100 is inspired by the Range Rover Evoque with mini Scorpio-like claws on the grille. Being the country’s largest sports utility vehicle maker, even its entry-level hatchback get crossover inspired styling with the black plastic wheel arches and a black theme in the lower portion of its bumper.
The XUV100 will be available in two engine forms, a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre mHawk80 three-cylinder diesel engine from the Mahindra TUV300, both paired either to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed automated manual transmission. Prices are expected to start from sub-4 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant.
