Country’s largest utility vehicle maker, Mahindra had previously revealed plans to launch the Verito compact sedan in India. But it had not specified anytime line for its launch, now the company’s President and CEO Dr Pawan Goenka has revealed to IndianAutoBlog team via Twitter that the launch of sub-four metre version of the Verito sedan will happen before March-end.
The Verito CS (the possible name for the shortened Verito sedan) is once caught testing in the streets of Bangalore, by TeamBHpian last month. These reveals that car is almost ready for production, and the research to develop this vehicle as a package has taken the last few years of the Mahindra R&D team.
In terms of design and styling Verito CS will be identical to the Verito with some changes to its boot and its front-end to keep length below the 4-meter mark. Comfort and space features will remain the same as currently offered in the Mahindra Verito, the Renault-sourced 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine is likely to be introduced. Boot space which is currently at 510 liters will be reduced to 300 liters.
Once launched, the Verito CS is all-set to become the most affordable Mahindra vehicle ever, and it will directly compete with the likes of the upcoming Honda Brio Amaze, the Maruti Dzire CS, the Tata Indigo/Manza CS and the upcoming Toyota Etios CS. The price difference of Verito CS could be around Rs 50,000 if Mahindra doesn’t add any new features, that is around Rs 4.8 to 6.2 lakh speculated.
