As reported in July-2018, Mahindra has launched the mini-Bolero (sub-4-meter) compact SUV named the Bolero Power+. Priced at Rs. 6.59 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the Bolero Power+ is almost a lakh cheaper than the standard model.
The Bolero Power+ measures 3,995 mm long, 1,745 mm wide, 1,880 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. The length is shortened by 112 mm to take advantage of the ‘small car’ tax bracket. However, the Mahindra engineers have cleverly altered the length by trimming the bulky front and rear bumpers, yet retaining the width and height identical to the standard model.
The major change is under-the-hood, the Bolero Power+ is powered by a new 1.5-litre, 3 cyl mHawkD70 engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox sending power to the rear wheels. This unit churns-out 70 bhp at 3,600 rpm and 195 Nm of peak torque between 1,400-2,200 rpm, making it 13% more powerful and 5% more efficient than the regular Bolero. It has an ARAI certified fuel economy figure of 16.5 KMPL, compared to the 15.96 KMPL on the standard one.
Yes, the compact Bolero Power+ is still a 7-seater, with two jump seats in the third row.
Prices of the Mahindra Bolero Power+ (ex-showroom Mumbai):
- Bolero Power+ SLE – Rs. 6,58,720
- Bolero Power+ SLX – Rs. 7,23,050
- Bolero Power+ ZLX – Rs. 7,57,477
