Maruti Alto clocks an incredible mileage of 49.3 km per litre

Country’s largest selling cars in the world in terms of sales, the Maruti Alto. A major reason for such popularity of Maruti Alto is that it’s very affordable car to own and run. With low initial cost and high mileage, Alto is a well known and reliable brand name in itself. The company recently organized a mileage-run called the Alto Xplore Max Mileage Rally for owners of the Alto / Alto K10. The Alto Xplore Max Mileage Rally is part of Maruti Suzuki’s initiative to increase awareness and educate customers on driving habits for obtaining maximum mileage from their Alto cars.

The run was flagged off simultaneously in four cities viz. New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Jaipur and attracted over 312 participants, including many women participants took part in the Alto Xplore Max Mileage Rally in these four cities.

The winner of this mileage run was a certain Mr Dilip Das from Kolkata, who extracted a fuel economy of 49.3 kmpl from his Maruti Suzuki Alto. Next on the chart were Mr Mehdi Hassan and Mr P Sai Sumanth from Hyderabad who claimed a fuel economy of 48.2 kmpl and 47.6 kmpl respectively.

During the rally, the participants were provided with a time chart, route map and maximum mileage booklet and had to follow a pre-defined route to the destination. ‘Top up to top up’ method was used to calculate the fuel mileage. This method ensured accurate measure on the fuel consumed and mileage achieved.
