Italian sports car maker, Lamborghini has decided to retire its legendry best-selling model, Lamborghini Gallardo by end-2013. The Gallardo has been around for a little more than decade and it’s finally time to put it to rest. The latest model in the Gallardo line-up LP-560-4 is ought to be the final Gallardo in the Gallardo series.
“It’s been a crazy beautiful ride for the past decade,” Lamborghini said in a statement. “One we’ve all enjoyed. And now the last Gallardo is here, the final masterpiece of the collection. Wind in your hair, smile on your face, foot to the floor. Italy personified.”
A successor to the Gallardo is in the works and will have a brand new name, some new styling cues inspired by the Aventador and apparently RWD is also under consideration.
No word on what engine will power the successor but the 2013 model year carries on unchanged with the 5.2-liter V10 engine making 552-hp.
