Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has lauched the Duke 390 in the UK recently, and is soon going to see the Indian streets as well. Now, KTM’s global CEO Stefan Pierer has just confirmed that the Austrian motorcycle maker will build faired(KTM Moto3 350) and touring(KTM Enduro 350) versions of the Duke 390.
Mr. Pierer also stated that the Indian motorcycle market will see the launch of a new KTM every six months, and this will continue for the next 18 months. We can expect Duke 390’s faired version and touring versions to arrive into India in early-2013. KTM also plans to develop a 180cc made for India bike. With Bajaj-KTM’s expansion blue print going along in the right direction, it is evident from the fact that India is being touted as the next big market for the ‘Orange Army’.
Now as far as the pricing is concerned, Duke 390 is expected to have a price tag around Rs 2 lakh, but the faired and touring version of the bike will be expensive, but below the Honda CBR500R, which is also a launch possibility in the Indian motorcycle market. The faired version of the bike will target the enthusiasts, who love stylish plus performance bikes, while the touring version of the KTM Duke 390 will offer all the qualities that one looks in an ideal touring bike, like higher tank capacity and front fairing to deflect the wind blast at higher speeds. Touring motorcycles under the KTM badge are called the “Adventure” series. The KTM Super Duke 1190 Adventure is one such model. The KTM Duke 390 is likely to have its own “Adventure” version.
KTM Duke 390 produces 44bhp of peak power and 35Nm of peak torque and weighs only 150kg, which returns an impressive power to weight ration and allows the bike to touch the 160kmph redline without much effort.
