The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has obtained decent sales in the Indian market for its previously launched predecessors of KTM and also for the recently launched KTM Duke 390. KTM made a public presence in early 2012 in India with the launch of KTM Duke 200, although KTM had already involved in business ventures with the leading two wheeler brand, Bajaj Auto Pvt Ltd since 2007.

As already mentioned in our previous posts, KTM has finally announced in its official Indian website that the RC200 and RC390 would be coming soon to India. Along with this, KTM now also has plans for entering the bigger segments such as Duke 690, RC390 and Husqvarna. KTM has a strategy of introducing a new model every year into the Indian market. KTM has followed its strategy starting with initial launch of KTM Duke 200 in 2012, recently KTM launched Duke 390 which would complete its strategy for 2013. The two bikes RC200 and RC390 pipelined for launch would complete its strategy for 2014.

As per the reports obtained, BMW’s earlier acquisition Husqvarna has been purchased by Bajaj KTM earlier this year. BMW sold Husqvarna to Bajaj KTM in order to focus their concentration on BMW Motorrad. Hence Bajaj Auto will commence to introduce new range of bikes of the newly acquired Husqvarna at its Chakan Plant.
